Pop-ups can be powerful, but they can also be disruptive, often annoying visitors more than they convert them. How do you grab every customer’s attention and highlight your most important offers—like a flash sale, free shipping, or a new product launch—without interrupting their shopping flow? You need a tool that is both highly visible and seamlessly integrated.
Boost your promotions with Helpmate’s Promo Bar feature. This powerful tool lets you display a sleek, non-intrusive notification banner across your site. It’s the perfect way to communicate urgent messages and drive sales without resorting to intrusive pop-ups. Maximize your offer visibility, create a sense of urgency, and guide customers exactly where you want them to go.
What is the Promo Bar Feature? #
The Promo Bar is a fully customizable banner you can place at the top or bottom of your website. Unlike pop-ups that cover content, a promo bar provides a persistent, professional space to announce anything from a holiday sale to a shipping deadline. With deep customization options, you can control its appearance, message, and even add a countdown timer to create urgency. It ensures every visitor sees your most critical message, no matter what page they land on.
Requirements & Setup #
Getting started is straightforward. The Promo Bar is a NeuroSales App within Helpmate, so all you need to do is activate it.
- Navigate to Helpmate -> App Center -> NeuroSales Apps.
- Find the Promo Bar option and turn it ON.
You can now create and manage all your promotional banners from the “Promo Bar List” table, where you can add, edit, or delete bars as needed.
A Tour of the Promo Bar Builder #
Creating the perfect announcement is easy with Helpmate’s intuitive four-part builder.
- General Settings: Start with the basics. Give your promo bar an internal Title (like “Black Friday Free Shipping”) so you can easily identify it later, and set its Status to “Active” or “Inactive.”
- Layout Customization: This is where you define the look. Choose a pre-designed Template for events like “Summer Sale” or “Black Friday,” or build your own from scratch. You have full control over the colors (background, text, button) and font sizes to ensure the bar perfectly matches your brand’s aesthetic.
- Content Configuration: Craft your message using the rich text editor. Configure your call-to-action Button with custom text, a destination URL, and an optional icon. You can also enable a Countdown Timer here to add a powerful layer of urgency to limited-time offers.
- Display Settings: Get granular with where and how your bar appears. You can show it everywhere or only on specific pages, target logged-in vs. logged-out users, and set its Position (top or bottom). Make it a Sticky Bar that stays visible on scroll, add a close button, and even set an Initial Delay before it appears or an Auto Hide timer.
Once you’re done, just click Save, and your promo bar is live!
Best Practices for High-Converting Promo Bars #
- Maintain Brand Consistency: Use your brand’s colors and fonts to create a seamless, professional look.
- Ensure Accessibility: Choose high-contrast colors for your text and background to ensure your message is readable for all users.
- Write Concise Copy: Keep your message short and to the point. Clearly state the offer and the benefit to the customer.
- Use a Strong CTA: Your button text should be a clear, action-oriented command like “Shop Now,” “Claim Your Discount,” or “Learn More.”
- Leverage Countdown Timers: Use timers strategically for genuine limited-time offers to create powerful FOMO (fear of missing out).
- Target Precisely: Use the display rules to show specific offers on relevant pages. For example, announce a sale on a product category page or show a “free shipping” bar only on the cart page.
KPIs: How to Measure Your Promo Bar’s Success #
Track these metrics to understand the impact of your announcements:
- Impressions: How many times was your promo bar viewed?
- Click-Through Rate (CTR): What percentage of viewers clicked the button?
- Assisted Conversions: How many sales journeys included an interaction with the promo bar?
- Revenue from Clicks: The total revenue generated from users who clicked the bar and then made a purchase.
Your 10-Minute Weekly Optimization Loop #
Dedicate a few minutes each week to keep your promotions effective.
- Swap Templates: Test different layouts to see which design generates the most clicks.
- Refine Your Copy: Experiment with different headlines and CTA button text to improve engagement.
- Adjust Targeting & Timing: Try showing a bar only on certain pages or adjust the initial delay to see if it improves CTR.
- Archive Expired Bars: Keep your list clean by deleting or deactivating old promotions.
